We’re Moving!

As the year turns, we are just weeks away from the 3-year anniversary of our move from the Pacific Northwest to Japan! When we came to Yokosuka, I was just into the third trimester of my pregnancy, and we foresaw all kinds of adventures in the years to come: working in a new position for my husband, leaving my old position and taking up a new one in the home for me, meeting our little one, learning some Japanese, and eating as much sushi as we could stand.

Three years later, it is safe to say: Mission Accomplished! We sure did eat a lot of sushi! Ha!

We've successfully completed our missions and are moving into new adventures back home in Gig Harbor, Washington! In the next two weeks, all our belongings will be packed up and put on a boat, and we will move from the wonderful Japanese house where we've raised our son into a hotel for a week, and then an apartment in Bremerton, and eventually, back into our house in Gig Harbor. What an adventure!

While I've been preparing for this move for weeks - cleaning, emptying closets and reselling, donating, and getting rid of things we can do without (I'm still on a bit of a minimalist kick) - getting our things in order was not the biggest thing I wanted to get done in December.  Instead, it was finishing my new Postpartum Doula website!  I'm so proud to have gotten this site up and running, and am really looking forward to serving new moms and their families in the Kitsap community!

Soon the Facebook page will get a new name in honor of our move, and if you or someone you know is having a baby in 2018, you can now share this website along with the Facebook page as a source of information, or to get them a little extra help once the baby comes!

I'm so grateful to all the kind women here in Yokosuka who helped me on my path toward confident motherhood, and to all those who have connected with me through Yokosuka Doula In-Home Care. Thank you for all your support, and thank you for letting me into your own motherhood journey! I can't wait to see what 2018 has in store for our family and yours!
